Important information and reminders for tomorrow's meet

Greetings Pool Sharks!

Tomorrow is a big day as we host the first swim meet of our 2021 season! If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare.

Swim meet 101

  • Please arrive at 6:45 am. We are splitting warm ups into 2 groups. Ages 13-19 will warm up from 7:00-7:10, and 12 and under will warm up from 7:15-7:25. Spring Green will have the pool from 7:30-7:50. The meet will start at 8:00.
  • If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim tomorrow with the event number.
  • If you have not yet signed up for a volunteer job for the meet, it will tell you at the top of the page and you can click the link to sign up for a job to fulfill your volunteer requirement. We have a lot of jobs still open that NEED to be filled! We are still looking for an announcer, a BBQ specialist, clerk of course help (will be trained onsite), a meet runner (will be trained onsite), and timers.
  • It is going to be HOT tomorrow! Please come prepared with lots of water and sunscreen. If you have a pop up or shade tent, we highly recommend bringing it to sit under during the meet to keep yourself and our swimmers out of the sun. If anyone has an extra pop up or awning they would be willing to bring, we can use it for our timers and officials who will be on deck the entire meet. If you are able to provide this, please bring it to the gate by the concession stand at the beginning of the meet. It will be returned to you at the end of the meet.
  • All volunteers will need to check in with Rachel Hansen once you arrive and get set up. (Usually while the swimmers are warming up) She will be located by the bench next to the concession stand on the pool deck. You will then be told where to go and be trained for your job if needed. This is how you get credit for your volunteering, so please be sure to check in with her!
  • Tomorrow's theme for the meet is Pajama Day! Come dressed in your favorite PJ's to show some team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
  • We will be moving up the 8 and under free relays tomorrow. That means they will occur between event #30 and #31. We will call for it over the announcements, and coaches will help remind those swimmers swimming that event.
  • Heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand, as well as brats, burgers, nachos and other concession items. The concession stand is cash only.
  • Clerk of course has moved this year. Swimmers will report to the gate by the concession stand (where they have been entering for practice) to report for their events. Once they complete their races, they are to exit out the bathhouse through the locker rooms (like they have been doing for practice).
  • Masks are required in the bathhouse for swimmers and spectators who are using it to use the restroom and/or change.
  • Spectators will be allowed to sit in the bleacher area, but are NOT allowed on deck. We are asking spectators to spread out and only use the bleachers while their child is swimming, so others can do the same. There will be a one-way flow of traffic for the bleacher area. Please look for the signs to enter and exit that area.
  • Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
  • Lastly, Badger Aquatics Club (BAC) is going to be using our new indoor pool next year as a satellite location for their USA swim club. This is a great opportunity for swimmers in the off season! They will have a pop-up tent located in the front lawn of the outdoor pool at the meet tomorrow. Please feel free to stop by and ask any questions you may have about club swimming. I am also attaching a flyer with information about their club swimming here in town.

Thanks again for making to the end of a long email! We are very excited about tomorrow. Please remember we have only had a few days to practice and our kids are still learning! If they make a mistake or DQ (disqualify) please applaud their efforts, and know they are trying their best! The other team is in the same boat as us, and many of our swimmers haven't swam since 2019! This is only the beginning of the season, and they will continue to improve as long as they are having fun and stay positive!

See you at the Pool!
