Awards Night and Pool Party Tonight!

Good morning Pool Shark families,

Tonight we are hosting our end of the season Awards Night and Pool Party at the Outdoor Pool from 6-8 pm. Thank you to those of you who have RSVP'd. If you have not done so, you can still RSVP under Meets and Events in Swimtopia. If you were not able to RSVP, you are still welcome to join us tonight.

Swimmers and parents are welcome to attend, but only swimmers and coaches will be allowed to swim after the awards. Parents are welcome to sit on the bleachers or outside the fence.

**There is NO potluck this year! Please have your swimmers eat dinner before they come!

Itinerary for the night -

6-6:15 - Swim-a-thon awards

6:15-6:30 - Swimmers will meet with their age-group coaches for end of the year acknowledgements and conference awards. Parent meeting on the bleachers.

6:30-8 - Open swim for swimmers and coaches. ALL OPEN SWIM POOL RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED!

A few items to wrap up the season -

  • Volunteer Checks - If you fulfilled your volunteer requirements this year, your check will be available tonight. Julie Wuerger will be handing them out after the parents meeting. If you are not able to attend this evening, your check will be placed in your family folder in the Pool Shark mailbox and can be picked up anytime the pool is open for the rest of the summer.
  • Concession items for Sale - We will be selling extra concession items at a discounted rate at the concession stand tonight. First come, first serve. Cash or check only.
  • Pool Shark plaques and year plates for sale - Pool Shark participation plaques will also be for sale at the concession stand tonight, along with year plates from past years. We do not have 2021 year plates available to sell tonight. We are hoping to have them available by the end of the summer or next season to purchase. Plaques are $10 and year plates are $1 each.
  • Food Drive - A big thanks to those who brought in items for the food drive! Pool Sharks donated 413 items to our local food pantry! Congratulations to our 8 and under age group! They donated 127 items to win the age group food drive competition! They will receive a special treat tonight at the Pool Party!
  • Fundraiser Updates - Thank you to everyone who helped us fundraise, and who donated to Pool Sharks this year! We asked for help and our team and community very generously supported us! Corporate Sponsors and personal donations - over $7,000. Concretes for a Cause - $521 (That's a lot of Concrete mixers!) Swim-a-thon - over $6,000! That's our highest amount EVER! We had 3 swimmers raise over $500 individually! Way to go Pool Sharks!
  • Board members and officials NEEDED! - We currently have open spots on our Board of Directors and are in need of officials! Board meetings are held once a month starting in January thru August. They are normally held the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 pm. We help organize and run all the "behind the scenes work" to make our spring swim camp, and summer seasons possible. If you are interested and want to learn more, please respond to this email and/or talk to any board member. We are also in need of officials to officiate in meets. You do NOT need to have swimming experience. There is a required training in the spring and you will shadow officials until you are comfortable to officiate on your own. Please respond to this email or email our head official, Kippie Talmage if interested. Kippie's email.
  • USA Swimming in Sauk - This is a friendly reminder that Badger Aquatics Club (BAC) is coming to town to offer USA club swimming opportunities. If you are interested in swimming in the off season, please see the attached flyer.

Thanks again for making it to the end of another long email. This will probably be the last one for a while. Thank you for trusting us with your swimmers this season, and for helping make this season possible. Thank you for your flexibility and support through a season that had many changes and unknowns due to COVID. We are hoping for continued progress on the COVID front so we can have a more normal season next summer. We are truly grateful for the season we were able to have.

Thanks again for your support, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
