Information for Saturday's meet
June 22nd
Hello Pool Shark families,
I am sending this out a day early since I am leaving town this morning for the weekend. Todd Wuerger will be acting as President in my absence for the rest of the week and at our home meet on Saturday. If you need anything after noon today, please contact either Todd [email protected] or our head coaches Ashley Pape and Riley Talmage at [email protected].
Saturday we will be hosting Baraboo at our Outdoor Pool! If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare.
- Please arrive at 6:45 am. Our warm-ups will be from 7:10-7:30 am. Baraboo will have the pool from 7:30-7:50. The meet will start at 8:00 am.
- If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim at the meet. Also, if you have not uploaded the free Swimtopia App, it is very helpful in signing your swimmer up for meets and seeing what they are swimming.
- Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! All volunteers will need to check in with Todd Wuerger once you arrive and get set up. (Usually while the swimmers are warming up) He will be located in front of the boys locker room entrance/lifeguard office on the pool deck. You will then be told where to go and be trained for your job if needed. This is how you get credit for your volunteering, so please be sure to get checked in first thing in the morning.
- All timers MUST report to the Timer meeting at 7:45 am in front of the lifeguard office.
- The forecast for Saturday is looking HOT! Please come prepared with plenty of water and sunscreen and a pop up or tent for shade. If you have an extra pop up you won’t be using, we will use it for our officials and timers. Just bring it to Todd when you get checked in for the morning and we will find a use for it. Please remember to take it home at the end of the meet.
- The theme for Saturday's meet is Hawiian! Come dressed in your favorite Hawiian attire to show some team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
- We are bringing back FRUIT to the concession stand!! At each home meet half of the team is asked to bring cut up fresh fruit in a container/ziplock bag to the concession stand upon arrival to be mixed and served as fruit cups. This meet will be the front third of the alphabet, so if your last name starts with A-HA, please plan to bring fruit on Saturday :) Our home meet on July 1st will be families HE-N, and our last home meet on July 15th will be families O-Z. If you know you will be missing the meet you are assigned to bring fruit, please plan to bring it to a home meet you will be attending.
- Heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand, as well as breakfast burritos, fruit cups, a coffee bar and other breakfast and lunch items! The concession stand is CASH ONLY.
- Clerk of course and flow of traffic. Swimmers will report to the gate by the concession stand to report for their events. Once they complete their races, they are to exit out the bathhouse through the locker rooms.
- Spectators will be allowed to sit in the bleacher area, and outside the fence, but are NOT allowed on deck. We are allowing swimmers on deck to cheer at the end of the lanes for other swimmers. They should stay at the ends of the lanes and not move to the side of the pool or other areas on deck. The ends of the lanes will be cleared for ALL 8 & UNDER events to make room for timers on that end of the pool. There will be deck stuarts to help enforce this, but we appreciate your help in talking to your swimmers about this before the meet.
- Team Records - New this year! Team Records are posted on our website under “Meets and Events”, “Team Records”. These records are for our team only, and must be swam in the Sauk Prairie Outdoor Pool. Team records are from 2014-present and will also be listed on our home meet heat sheets for each event.
- Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
- Please remember we are still early in the season, and our swimmers are still learning. Please be a positive supporter of your child and their efforts, no matter what the outcome. Many of them might be trying something new and may be nervous. Remember, they are trying their best. Encourage them to display good sportsmanship, be good teammates, and have fun!
Have a great meet and weekend!
