Information for tomorrow's meet vs Mazomanie

Hello Pool Shark families,

Thank you for a great 2nd week of practices! Now that we are done with school, we will be following our normal summer practice schedule, and will be having our first practice at the outdoor pool tonight from 5:30-6:30pm.

Tomorrow we will be hosting Mazomanie at our Outdoor Pool! If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare. Swim meet 101

If for some reason your swimmer is NOT able to swim tomorrow and they were signed up for the meet, please email our head coaches Ashley Pape and Riley Talmage at [email protected] ASAP.

  • Please arrive at 6:45 am. Our warm-ups will be from 7:10-7:30 am. Mazomanie will have the pool from 7:30-7:50. The meet will start at 8:00 am.
  • If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim at the meet. Also, if you have not uploaded the free Swimtopia App, it is very helpful in signing your swimmer up for meets and seeing what they are swimming.
  • Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! All volunteers will need to check in with me, Julie Goodman, once you arrive and get set up. (Usually while the swimmers are warming up) I will be located in front of the boys locker room entrance/lifeguard office on the pool deck. You will then be told where to go and be trained for your job if needed. This is how you get credit for your volunteering, so please be sure to get checked in first thing in the morning.
  • All timers MUST report to the Timer meeting at 7:45 am in front of the lifeguard office. We have some extra timing positions for this meet (yay!), so we will be able to offer some half shifts for timing. (Unfortunately we will not have enough for everyone to split a shift, but we will work that out at the meeting tomorrow morning.)
  • The forecast for tomorrow is looking cold and wet. There is a chance of rain early, followed by clouds and highs only in the 60's. Please come prepared with rain gear/pop ups/tents and plenty of extra towels, sweatshirts and sweatpants to keep yourself and your swimmer(s) warm. We will not cancel for light rain. We will swim through light rain and would only delay or cancel for heavy rain and/or storms. As of right now, we are going to go for it, but please check your email in the morning before you leave. I will email out any changes as soon as we know.
  • The theme for Saturday's meet is Hawaiian! Come dressed in your favorite Hawaiian attire to show some team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
  • Concession stand fruit - At each home meet a portion of the team is asked to bring cut up fresh fruit in a container/ziplock bag to the concession stand upon arrival to be mixed and served as fruit cups. This meet will be the first fourth of the alphabet, so if your last name starts with A-F, please plan to bring fruit on Saturday :) Our home meet on June 29th will be families G-K, the home meet on July 13th will be families L-R, and the last home meet on July 20th will be families S-Z. If you know you will be missing the meet you are assigned to bring fruit, please plan to bring it to a home meet you will be attending.
  • Heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand ($3), as well as breakfast burritos, fruit cups, a coffee bar and other breakfast and lunch items! The concession stand is CASH ONLY.
  • Clerk of course and flow of traffic. Swimmers will report to the gate by the concession stand to report for their events. Once they complete their races, they are to exit out the bathhouse through the locker rooms.
  • Results - Final race results will be posted throughout the meet on the results board by the main entrance of the bathhouse. It takes about 20-30 minutes to post results after each event. All final results of the meet will be posted to our website under "Meet and Events", "Meet results" sometime after the meet on Saturday.
  • Spectators will be allowed to sit in the bleacher area, and outside the fence, but are NOT allowed on deck. Please do NOT stand along the fence in front of the bleachers. You will be asked to either sit on the ground or move because it blocks the bleacher viewing area. We allow swimmers on deck to cheer at the end of the lanes for other swimmers. They should stay at the ends of the lanes and not move to the side of the pool or other areas on deck. The ends of the lanes will be cleared for ALL 8 & UNDER events to make room for timers on that end of the pool. There will be deck stuarts to help enforce this, but we appreciate your help in talking to your swimmers about this before the meet.
  • Team Records - Team Records are posted on our website under “Meets and Events”, “Team Records”. These records are for our team only, and must be swam in the Sauk Prairie Outdoor Pool. Team records are from 2014-present and will also be listed on our home meet heat sheets for each event.
  • Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
  • Please remember, this is our first meet of the season, and our swimmers are still learning. Please be a positive supporter of your child and their efforts, no matter what the outcome. Many of them might be trying something new and may be nervous. Remember, they are trying their best. Encourage them to display good sportsmanship, be good teammates, and have fun!

See you at the Pool!
