Weekly update / Swim-a-thon Tuesday

Greetings Pool Shark families,

We hope everyone had a fun, relaxing, and safe holiday weekend!

Congratulations to our swimmers on a VERY competitive meet against our defending Conference Champions, Cross Plains. The Stingrays edged us out for the win 362-297, handing us our first dual meet loss of the season.  Although it was not the outcome we were hoping for, it was the closest our team has ever been to their team. There were a lot of amazing races and best times as a result of great competition on both sides.

Individual and team results are posted on our website under "Meets and Events." Click on "Meet results." They will be posted here after each meet. If your swimmer finished in the top 3 of their individual event, or their relay got 1st place, they earned a ribbon at the meet! Ribbons are in your family folder in the Pool Shark Mailboxes at the outdoor pool. The mailbox will be placed on the bench by the concession stand at the outdoor pool during the 5:30 practices. If it is not there, you can ask a coach for it. Parents or swimmers may access their mailboxes anytime the outdoor pool is open by asking a coach or pool staff member to access it for you.

It's hard to believe we only have 2 more dual meets left in the season before our Tri-County Conference swim meet. I'm going to include the deadlines for all 3 meets below. They are open for sign up on Swimtopia.

The registration deadline for the meet @ Wisconsin Dells on Saturday 7/12/25 is TOMORROW 7/7/25 at 11:59pm.

The registration deadline for the meet @ Mazomanie on Saturday 7/19/25 is next Monday, 7/14/25 at 11:59pm.

We are asking that you login to declare whether or not you're going to the meets listed above if you have not done so already. The process is simple. Login into your account and go to "Information" and scroll down to "Meet sign up instructions" to sign up for the meet. Since these are both away meets, we do not need volunteers.

Tri-County Conference Meet information and deadlines - An email was sent last week with all the information you need to know about the Tri-County Conference meet and Invite meet. It is also listed on our website under "Resources", "Tri-County Conference". Tri-county Conference Meet information

The registration deadline for the Tri-County Conference meet on 7/26 and 7/27 is Monday 7/14/25 @ 11:59pm. This is a HARD DEADLINE, so please declare your availability for this meet as soon as possible, so our coaches can start working on their line ups. Also, this is a friendly reminder that your swimmer MUST compete in at least 3 dual meets to be eligible to swim in the Tri-County Conference swim meet.

  • Conference Volunteers - Each team is expected to supply volunteers to help run the Conference meet. We need to provide 16 timer shifts and 4 clerk of course shifts. We are still have timer shifts available for both Saturday and Sunday afternoon, and clerk of course shifts available for both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. These volunteer opportunities are available to sign up now, and are due to the host team ASAP. If you need to make up for a missed volunteer job at a home meet where your swimmer completed, this can count as a make up for the volunteer requirement.

2025 Swim-a-thon! One of our biggest fundraisers is this Tuesday!

**Swim-a-thon information and pledge forms will be handed out at practices. If your swimmer doesn't receive a form, or you need more than one form, they can ask their coaches for one, or print one from the attachment below.

When? - Tuesday, July 8th - During regular practice times

Rain date: Thursday, July 9th

WHY HAVE A SWIM-A-THON? Our swim-a-thon is the Pool Sharks’ primary fundraiser. Kids are directly involved in raising money for their team and having FUN while doing it!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Pool Shark swimmers will have one full practice to swim as many lengths as possible. One length is 25 meters (at the outdoor pool). Swimmers ask friends and families to support Pool Sharks by pledging a monetary amount prior to swimming. Some families choose to collect money before the event, while others get pledges per length and collect the money earned following the event.

Pledge Example:

Uncle Joe pledges 50 cents per length. You swim 100 lengths.

100 x $.50 = $50.00 OR Uncle Joe can pledge $50 as a flat donation.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THE SWIM-A-THON?

Swimmers are divided up into lanes and they have one full practice to swim any strokes, taking rests when needed. Parent volunteers sit at the ends of the lanes and count the lengths that each swimmer does. Prizes are awarded (at the end of year celebration) to swimmers with the most lengths for each age group (one for boys and one for girls) as well as for the top fundraiser (top girl and top boy overall).

  • Swim-a-Thon will be conducted at the regular practices on Tuesday July 8th (rain date: Wednesday, July 9th).
  • Turn in pledge forms on or before the event to the Swim-a-Thon mail folder, your age group coach, or at the Swim-a-Thon.
  • Collect pledges, thank your sponsors for supporting Pool Sharks, and turn in a check payable to SPPS.
  • Checks can be turned into the Swim-a-Thon mail folder in the Pool Shark mailbox at the outdoor pool.

We ask that only swimmers who are participating in the Swim-a-thon come to practice that day. (July 8th) If your swimmer is not participating in the Swim-a-thon, they get the day off.

Parents, we need your help! We need parent volunteers to help count lengths for the swim-a-thon. We are still looking for 4 more counters for the 6:45am practice, and 5 more counters for High Performance. If you are able to help, please sign up for the volunteer job in Meets and Events, Swim-a-thon, in Swimtopia.

That is all for now...Have a great week!
