Information for tomorrow's finals
Good evening Pool Sharks,
WOW! What a day! Our swimmers showed up and really performed today! We are so proud of everyone's efforts. Thank you to those of you who volunteered to help run this amazing event!
I have attached the preliminary results below from today. If your swimmer finished in the top 16 in an event, they will be swimming for team points tomorrow in that event. Please make sure your swimmer(s) report to clerk of course ON TIME! If they are late, they could lose their spot and an alternate will swim in their place! If your swimmer finished 17th or 18th, please have them report to clerk of course for that event. If there is a scratch, or a swimmer is late or missing, they will be put in that spot to swim for points.
All relays will swim tomorrow, along with the consolation (9th-16th places) and final (1st-8th places) heats of each event. The top relay scores points for our team.
Our arrival and warm up times are the same for tomorrow. Please arrive at between 7/7:15 am. The doors open at 7 am. Our warm ups are 7:40-8 am. There will be a 10 minute "starts only" time immediately following our warm ups. The coaches will help guide our swimmers through this.
There will be a brief opening ceremony starting at 8:45 am, then the start of the meet will follow. The coaches will guide our swimmers through the team parade before the start of the meet. There will be a mid-meet break after event #38 again. Mid-meet warm ups will follow shortly after event #38. If you are only swimming in the 2nd half of the meet tomorrow, please plan to be at the pool no later than 10:30am tomorrow for afternoon warm up and please check in with your coaches.
A few things from our host ~
Towel off before leaving the deck or use the back stairs - Our summer kids are not used to having a towel with them and they ran off the deck still dripping which made the floors dangerous. Verona pulled all the rugs they had across the school and that was not yet enough. We need all kids to bring a towel to warmups, clerk of course, leave in the locker room or in the team seating area and dry off. If you have a little and want to meet your swimmer at the top of stairs with a towel that will work too. NO WET FEET.
Respect the space and clean up after yourselves - We were pretty disappointed at the state of the Atrium area at the end of the event. Food and garage left on tables, food smeared on tables, chairs and walls. We want Verona to be excited to host another Tri-County meet in the future. Please remind your members and their family that this is a school and they should treat the space as they would like their school. Also NOT to move the furniture around in this area, follow the signs please. RESPECT THE SPACE.
Reminders -
- Heat Sheets and Admissions - There will be a $5.00 charge each day for each adult entering the facility. Programs and heat sheets will be available each day for $5.00 at the Admissions Table. On Sunday, Finals heat sheets can be purchased for $3.00. Cash or Credit.
- Volunteers - You will have to give your name at admissions to receive FREE admission. Please come find me (Julie Goodman) in our team area in the Atrium during our swimmer's warm ups to get your deck pass and stop watches (timers only). Timer's meeting and clerk of course meeting are at 8:30 (AM shifts) and approximately 11:30/11:45 for PM shifts. (Pay attention for announcements during the break)
- Tomorrow's theme is "Beach Dreaming" attire/costumes!
- There will be an awards ceremony at the completion of the meet tomorrow where team and age group awards will be recognized at the conclusion of the meet. We encourage everyone to stick around if they are able to for this culminating event.
1 day down, and 1 to go...We are on a roll! Let's keep it going! Make sure your swimmer(s) are drinking plenty of water and get a good night's sleep tonight! Bring the same effort and energy to the meet tomorrow! We got this!!
Go Pool Sharks!
