Saturday's Meet Information
Hello Pool Sharks,
Saturday we will be traveling to Sun Prairie West High School for our swim meet. This is a different location than in the past, and different than what is listed on our "Pool locations" tab on our website. The Sun Prairie Family Aquatic Center is currently being renovated, so the meet will be INSIDE at Sun Prairie West High School. The address for Sun Prairie West High School is:
2850 Ironwood Dr. Sun Prairie, WI
Notes from our host ~ PLEASE READ
We are looking forward to a fun meet on Saturday! While we wish we were in our normal outdoor pool home, it is still under construction for a few weeks yet. We are excited to be hosting your team at Sun Prairie West High School.
Doors Open: 6:45am
Piranhas Warm-ups: 7:00 am
Sauk Warm-ups: 7:30am
Meet Start: 8:00 am
Where: Sun Prairie West High School. 2850 Ironwood Dr, Sun Prairie. We have included a map that shows you where to park. (See attachment) You will enter under the door marked ATHLETICS
Where to Sit: For this meet, we will have seating for swimmers and families both up in the mezzanine as well as the metal bleachers behind the shallow end. In an ideal world, the metal bleachers would be used by families either new to the swimming world or with younger children, while the mezzanine would be for experienced families. However this is something impossible to police, so we are asking all families to be respectful and kind to others.
Along these lines, we are also asking families to minimize what they bring into the meet as seating is limited with an indoor meet. There will be room in the concession area if families prefer to spread out a little more and then just pop into the pool area to watch their swimmers individual events.
Our goal is to have some designated space for the Pool Shark families, both in the Mezzanine and the metal bleachers. Just an FYI, only swimmers, coaches and Piranhas meet volunteers will be allowed on the deck past the area of the metal bleachers. Also of note, per the West aquatics director, no one is allowed to set up a tent outside. If families want to stay outside, of course, we can’t stop that but they should be aware that there will be no outdoor announcements.
Concessions: Concessions are going to be a little more simple than what we do outside, but will be available upstairs for grab and go items. We ask that families and swimmers DO NOT eat on the pool deck, metal bleachers or in the mezzanine. There is a large area in the concessions with tables and chairs for eating. We will be taking cash as well as Venmo.
Heat sheets will be available at the front door at Volunteer Check-In for $3.00.
Our team notes and reminders ~
If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare for away meets. Since this is an away meet, we do not need volunteers.
- Please arrive around 6:45/7am and have your swimmer check in with their coach right away. Our warm ups start at 7:30 and end at 7:50 am. The meet will start at 8 am.
- If something happens between now and the start of the meet and your swimmer is not able to attend, please email our Head Coach Riley ASAP to let her know. [email protected]
- If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim tomorrow with the event number. If you have not uploaded the free Swimtopia App, it is very helpful in signing your swimmer up for meets and seeing what they are swimming.
- The entire meet will be held inside. Inside floors get slippery. Please remind your swimmers to WALK and be careful going up and down the mezzanine stairs to help avoid injuries.
- Saturday's theme for the meet is Favorite Sport/Jersey! Come dressed in your favorite sports gear and/or jersey to show your team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
- This is a 25 yard pool, which is the same length as our indoor pool.
- Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
- Please remember, this is our first meet of the season, and our swimmers are still learning. Please be a positive supporter of your child and their efforts, no matter what the outcome. Many of them might be trying something new and may be nervous. Remember, they are trying their best. Encourage them to display good sportsmanship, be good teammates, and have fun!
