Information for tomorrow's home meet
Hello Pool Shark families,
Tomorrow evening we will be hosting the Wisconsin Dells Dolphins at the Outdoor Pool! This will be another big meet, with around 215 swimmers participating! We will try our best to have the meet as efficiently as possible to try to get out of there at a decent time tonight. Thanks in advance to all our amazing volunteers! YOU are the reason our swimmers have such a great experience swimming at our home pool! :)
If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare. Swim meet 101
If for some reason something comes up, and your swimmer is NOT able to swim, and they were signed up for the meet, please email our head coach Riley Talmage at [email protected] ASAP.
- Please arrive at 3:45 pm and have your swimmer(s) check in with their coach right away. Our warm-ups will be from 4:10-4:30pm. Cross Plains will have the pool from 4:30-4:50. The meet will start at 5:00pm.
- Parking and new "unloading/loading zone" - Currently 5th Avenue (on the west side of the pool) is under construction. We are unsure of what the driving/parking status of the road will be tomorrow evening. Since 5th Avenue may not be an option for driving/parking, we will provide an "unloading zone" area in our parking lot, so both team's families can drive cars up to unload pop-ups, chairs and other large items instead of having to haul them a farther distance from the pool. Please note that this is meant to be an unloading/loading zone only, and cars will not be allowed to park there for an extended period of time. This area will be marked off with partitions and rope in the far corner of the parking lot.
- If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, it is now posted. Go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim at the meet. Also, if you have not uploaded the free Swimtopia App, it is very helpful in signing your swimmer up for meets and seeing what they are swimming.
- Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! All volunteers will need to check in with me, Julie Goodman once you arrive and get set up. (Usually while the swimmers are warming up) I will be located in front of the boys locker room entrance/lifeguard office on the pool deck. You will then be told where to go and be trained for your job if needed. Timers will be checked in at the timers meeting at 4:45. Concessions workers, I will come into the concession stand sometime during your shift to check you in. Set up crew needs to be there at 3:30 to start setting up. Please come see me when you arrive. Take down crew, we will make an announcement for you to report to me by the lifeguard office as the final races are finishing up. It is your responsibility to check in with me. This is how you get credit for your volunteering, so please be sure you have checked.
- All timers MUST report to the Timer meeting at 7:45 am in front of the lifeguard office.
- The forecast for tomorrow looks warm and possibly questionable...We will do everything we can to host the meet, but if it looks like there is a strong possibility for severe weather, we will re-evaluate and try to make a decision by 2pm. If it looks like it might only be quick pop ups, we will still try to have the meet and may have to sit through some lightning delays.
- The theme for Saturday's meet is Red, white and blue! Come dressed best 4th of July attire to show some team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
- Concession stand fruit - At each home meet a portion of the team is asked to bring cut up fresh fruit in a container/ziplock bag to the concession stand upon arrival to be mixed and served as fruit cups. This meet will be last names that start with K-P, please plan to bring fruit tomorrow. :) Our last home meet of the season on July 11th will be families Q-Z. If you know you will be missing the meet you are assigned to bring fruit, please plan to bring it to a home meet you will be attending.
- Heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand ($3), as well as lots of dinner items such as brats, burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and loaded nachos! We are also planning to have a sno-cone machine for freshly made sno-cones to try to beat the heat! Plan to have dinner with us tomorrow night! The concession stand is CASH ONLY.
- Clerk of course and flow of traffic. Swimmers will report to the gate by the concession stand to report for their events. Once they complete their races, they are to exit out the bathhouse through the locker rooms.
- Results - Final race results will be posted throughout the meet on the results board by the main entrance of the bathhouse. It takes about 20-30 minutes to post results after each event. All final results of the meet will be posted to our website under "Meet and Events", "Meet results" sometime after the meet on Saturday.
- Spectators are allowed to sit in the bleacher area, and outside the fence, but are NOT allowed on deck. Please do NOT stand along the fence in front of the bleachers. You will be asked to either sit on the ground or move because it blocks the bleacher viewing area. We allow swimmers on deck to cheer at the end of the lanes for other swimmers. They should stay at the ends of the lanes and not move to the side of the pool or other areas on deck. The ends of the lanes will be cleared for ALL 8 & UNDER events to make room for timers on that end of the pool. There will be deck stuarts to help enforce this, but we appreciate your help in talking to your swimmers about this before the meet.
- Team Records - Team Records are posted on our website under “Meets and Events”, “Team Records”. These records are for our team only, and must be swam in the Sauk Prairie Outdoor Pool. Team records are from 2014-present and will also be listed on our home meet heat sheets for each event.
- Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
- We anticipate this to be another very competitive swim meet! Please continue to be positive supporters of your swimmers. Remember, they are trying their best. Encourage them to display good sportsmanship, be good teammates, and have fun! :)
- Lastly, if you are on Facebook, please follow our Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks FB page for updates and announcements!
