Good afternoon,

We have some changes to report for the meet this evening. 

** 8 and under free relays - Due to this being a night meet, we will be moving up the 8 and under free relays (Event numbers 69 and 70). They will be swam after event #30 (15-18 boys backstroke). If you have a swimmer in these events, please have them ready to report to clerk of course when they are calling the backstroke events. Our coaches will also help round kids up, and our announcer will be making announcements for them to line up. 

** Event changes - We have had 4 swimmer scratch since our line-ups were due Monday at 5pm for various, legitimate reasons. These scratches have affected at least 25 swimmers and their events for this evening. Coach Riley sent out an email to the affected swimmer's families with the changes listed for tonight. If you have a 9-10 boy, 9-10 girl, 11-12 boy and/or a 13-14 girl, please check your email to see if you have something from Coach Riley. If so, the changes she has listed will NOT be on your Swimtopia app, and they will NOT be listed on the heat sheets, since they have already been printed. Our coaches are going to do their best to talk to swimmers and families as they arrive to the meet, but with this large number of changes, they may not get to everyone. Some swimmers were moved from A to B, or B to C or vise versa in the same relay event. She did not send out those emails. Those swimmers will be told in clerk of course when they line up. If you did not receive an email from Coach Riley, your swimmer's events were not affected. 

We understand things come up, and our coaches know that last minute emergencies is part of their job, but the last few meets they have had a lot. Our team is only allowed 5 changes after line ups are submitted. (Relay changes don't count against us, but still require A LOT of shifting things around for our coaches) For regular Saturday meets, that deadline is Thursdays at 5pm. For this meet, it was Monday at 5pm. 

Again, we understand things come up, and it is MUCH easier for our coaches to make these changes and decisions before we get to the meet, but unfortunately, things also come up at the meet, and they have to make more changes on the fly. 

Just wanted to let everyone know, so they can communicate accordingly, and understand why sometimes events listed in the app and on the heat sheets are different that what happens at the meet. Also, to give credit to our amazing coaches, who seamlessly make these adjustments after they have spend hours of putting line ups together. Please thank your coaches, and our Hy-tek when you see them! 

Lastly, I am keeping on eye on the weather for tonight. So far we are planning to run the meet as scheduled, but know that with this heat and humidity things can change very quickly. Take down crew - please pay attention to our announcer. We may need to call you on deck to help take down pop ups and put things away quickly if the weather decides to take a turn for the worse. 

Please make sure everyone is hydrating BEFORE the meet and has water and plenty of liquids during the meet!
