Information for tomorrow's home meet
Good morning,
Tomorrow we will be hosting our last home meet vs Mazomanie at the Outdoor Pool! We will take a few minutes to give special recognition for our senior swimmers who will be participating in their last home dual meet at the beginning of the meet. Congratulations to Jason King, Jake Klein and Ian Quayle on your amazing Pool Shark careers!
If this is your first swim meet, please see the "Swim Meet 101" section under the "Resources" tab on our website, or click the link below to know what to expect and how to prepare. Swim meet 101
If for some reason something comes up, and your swimmer is NOT able to swim, and they were signed up for the meet, please email our head coach Riley Talmage at [email protected] ASAP.
- Please arrive at 6:45 am and have your swimmer(s) check in with their coach right away. Our warm-ups will be from 7:10-7:30 am. Mazomanie will have the pool from 7:30-7:50. The meet will start at 8:00 am.
- Parking and new "unloading/loading zone" - Currently 5th Avenue (on the west side of the pool) is still under construction. We will provide an "unloading zone" area in our parking lot, so both team's families can drive cars up to unload pop-ups, chairs and other large items instead of having to haul them a farther distance from the pool. Please note that this is meant to be an unloading/loading zone only, and cars will not be allowed to park there for an extended period of time. This area will be marked off with cones.
- If you want to see what your swimmer is swimming in the meet, it is posted on our website and the Swimtopia App. Go to the "Meets and Events" tab on our website and click on the gray meet entry box (that is marked closed). You will be able to see your swimmer(s) and what they are scheduled to swim at the meet. Also, if you have not uploaded the free Swimtopia App, it is very helpful in signing your swimmer up for meets and seeing what they are swimming.
- Thank you to everyone who signed up to volunteer! All volunteers will need to check in with me once you arrive and get set up. (Usually while the swimmers are warming up) He will be located in front of the boys locker room entrance/lifeguard office on the pool deck. You will then be told where to go and be trained for your job if needed. Timers will be checked in at the timers meeting at 7:45. Concessions workers, I will come into the concession stand sometime during your shift to check you in. This is how you get credit for your volunteering, so please be sure to get checked in first thing in the morning.
- All timers MUST report to the Timer meeting at 7:45 am in front of the lifeguard office.
- The forecast for Saturday is looking great so far! It's always a little chilly when we arrive, so plan to have sweatshirts, pants and blankets for the earlier part of the meet, and pop-ups, sunscreen, and water for when things warm up later in the meet.
- The theme for Saturday's meet is Hawaiian! Come dressed in your best Hawaiian attire to show some team spirit during the meet! (swimsuit underneath of course!)
- Concession stand fruit - At each home meet a portion of the team is asked to bring cut up fresh fruit in a container/ziplock bag to the concession stand upon arrival to be mixed and served as fruit cups. This meet will be last names that start with Q-Z, please plan to bring fruit on Saturday, or if you missed a meet, you can bring it tomorrow as well.
- Heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand ($3), as well as breakfast burritos, fruit cups, a coffee bar and other breakfast and lunch items! The concession stand is CASH ONLY.
- Clerk of course and flow of traffic. Swimmers will report to the gate by the concession stand to report for their events. Once they complete their races, they are to exit out the bathhouse through the locker rooms.
- Results - Final race results will be posted throughout the meet on the results board by the main entrance of the bathhouse. It takes about 20-30 minutes to post results after each event. All final results of the meet will be posted to our website under "Meet and Events", "Meet results" sometime after the meet on Saturday.
- Spectators are allowed to sit in the bleacher area, and outside the fence, but are NOT allowed on deck. Please do NOT stand along the fence in front of the bleachers. You will be asked to either sit on the ground or move because it blocks the bleacher viewing area. We allow swimmers on deck to cheer at the end of the lanes for other swimmers. They should stay at the ends of the lanes and not move to the side of the pool or other areas on deck. The ends of the lanes will be cleared for ALL 8 & UNDER events to make room for timers on that end of the pool. There will be deck stuarts to help enforce this, but we appreciate your help in talking to your swimmers about this before the meet.
- Team Records - Team Records are posted on our website under “Meets and Events”, “Team Records”. These records are for our team only, and must be swam in the Sauk Prairie Outdoor Pool. Team records are from 2014-present and will also be listed on our home meet heat sheets for each event.
- Swim-a-thon donations - Donations can be brought to the meet and turned into the Swim-a-thon folder in our Pool Shark mailbox/bin. The folder has been moved to the front of the bin. Please DO NOT put cash in the folder in the mailbox. If you can write a check for the total, that would be preferred, but if you need to hand in cash, please hand it to myself or Brooke Myers. Checks can be made out to Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks. Donations should be placed in an envelope labeled with your swimmer's name and age group. All donations are due by the end of the day Monday, July 20th.
- Once your child is done swimming all the events they are signed up for, you may leave. If you are not sure, please ask a coach to be sure they are done swimming before you leave.
- Please continue to be a positive supporter of your child and their efforts, no matter what the outcome. Remember, they are trying their best. Encourage them to display good sportsmanship, be good teammates, and have fun! :)
- Lastly, if you are on Facebook, please follow our Sauk Prairie Pool Sharks FB page for updates and announcements!
